The first session of the Cookery Class organized by Miris Trails, in alliance with Sri Lanka Tailor-Made (Jetwing Travels) started off on a spectacular note. The nature of the tour is primarily to cater to a discerning group of food lovers who will be staying at some of the finest hotels in the Sri Lanka, transferred across by personal chauffeur driven cars.
The guests were warmly welcomed at the Jetwing Beach Negombo on September 2 where they spent the evening in fellowship over dinner. September 3 showcased sights of busy fishermen bringing to shore their catch; this served a good opportunity for guests to purchase seafood for the cookery class that was to commence later that day.
Going the extra mile, the associates of Jetwing Beach orchestrated a traditional village fashioning a rustic and humble Sri Lankan ambiance which was very well received by the guests. Under the guidance of Chef Kalanapriya, the group tried their hand in preparing dhal curry, fish curry, Negombo prawn curry, and okra curry in individually set up work stations. These mouth watering, spice blended curries were later served and enjoyed with warm steamed rice at noon by the beach.
“To us here at Jetwing, we felt that we were the perfect fit for Miris Trails to partner with on this culinary tour. Our Jetwing properties have long been known for the quality and excellence of cuisine, with star class chefs who love to create and to teach. The location and ambiance of destinations such as Negombo, Galle and Sigiriya provide the ideal backdrop to savour flavours and tastes that are unique to Sri Lanka”, said Jetwing Head of Sales & Marketing Ishanth Gunewardene. Rather than standard holiday tours, we are seeing an increase in the demand for experiential programmes, and through our specialized arm Sri Lanka Tailor-made, we have the expertise to craft such tours thanks to experienced and knowledgeable travel counselors and an extensive network of contacts”, he continued.
Sri Lanka Tailor-made is a dedicated division within Jetwing Travels that specializes in the luxury and high-end tourism segment in Sri Lanka. Primarily targeting Free Independent Travellers (FIT), Sri Lanka Tailor-made is geared towards offering travelers to the resplendent isle a truly personalized journey. The group will move on next to Jetwing Vil Uyana to experience more authentic culinary arts and flavours of Sri Lanka.
